Psychiatric social workers specialize in providing consultation and support from the perspective of life in general. In their practice, they value the relationship between the person and their overall circumstances, and intervene in reciprocal interactions between the individual and his or her environment. Therefore, indirect support meant to influence the environment as well as direct support of the person in question are essential. In this report, I review the definition and characteristics of psychiatric social workers, and discuss visible practice and invisible practice. Furthermore, I consider the most important practices by psychiatric social workers to be their interaction with individuals and the establishment of a local network based on team medicine.
