Until now, support for schizophrenia has meant medication management or coping with symptoms. There are few studies on children whose mothers are affected by a psychiatric disease. However, such children have many problems.
 The author’s mother was a schizophrenic. The mother of Yuki Nakamura who is a cartoonist and the author of “My mother is BYOKI（sick）”was also a schizophrenic. Both the author and Yuki experienced onsets of their mothers’schizophrenia in their childhood. For a child, having a mother affected with a psychiatric disease has an adverse effect from various aspects. In fact, both the author and Yuki spent their adolescence with chronic suicidal thoughts.
 The purposes of this study were to retrospectively examine the resilience and recovery processes of the author and Yuki, and to examine what kind of approaches are necessary in the future from a forward-looking viewpoint.
 The author hopes that this study will provide clues to assist in similar cases in the future. Also, the author considers that disclosing the real name of Yuki Nakamura and that the author has a family member with schizophrenia carries significance.
