Currently, there are few young people performing basic psychiatric research. However, as general science journals include topics such as psychiatric disorders and translational research, participation by those with clinical knowledge of psychiatric disorders is indispensable. This article is intended for young people who are interested in research but cannot take the first step. Therefore, with young people in mind, I will introduce my research and messages from young researchers at my laboratory. Individuals with an innate skepticism for questions like "whether mice have schizophrenia" are most suited to basic research.
