It is essential to develop a good therapeutic relationship with a patient. However, it is not always easy. There are various factors that make the therapeutic relationship difficult. Being unaware of a change in the therapeutic structure and also being unaware of countertransference are some of those factors. It is difficult for trainees to realize them by themselves. Sufficient opportunities for supervision and case conferences should be made available.
