 The perinatal period is not free from psychological maladjustment. A variety of mood and anxiety disorders are seen in this period. In addition, psychological problems specific to this life stage are also observed, including bonding disorders and infant abuse. Psychosocial aetiologies have been identified. Psychological treatment is more important than pharmacotherapy. In recent years, efforts for the prevention of postnatal depression heve increased.
