Organic, Including Symptomatic, Mental Disorders in ICD-11

Organic, including symptomatic, mental disorders (F0) defined in ICD-10 were divided into the following three major disorder groups in the ICD-11's draft: 1) Neurocognitive Disorders; 2) Secondary Mental or Behavioural Syndromes Associated with Disorders or Diseases Classified Elsewhere; and 3) Disorders Due to Substance Use or Addictive Behaviors. F0 included mental disorders caused by medications; however, in ICD-11, it is coded as Substance-Induced Disorder in Disorders Due to Use of Other Specified Psychoactive Substances, Including Medications, which is a subcategory of the third. Dividing F0 strongly reflects the inclination to abolish the term "organic" and the integration of substance- and drug-induced disorders in both DSM-IV and DSM-5, which were published after ICD-10.
