The disorder grouping of "Personality Disorder and related traits" in ICD-11 is significantly different from that of "Personality Disorders" in ICD-10. Personality Disorder in ICD-11 is defined in terms of impairment in two aspects: self-functioning and interpersonal functioning. Once the diagnosis of Personality Disorder is established with attention to the presence of personality disfunction, the severity of Personality Disorder is evaluated on a scale of mild, moderate or severe. The conventional diagnosis of specific subclassification has been abolished, and each Personality Disorder diagnosis is supplemented by personality traits such as "Negative Affectivity", "Dissociality" and "Anankastia", in addition to a specifier referred to as "Borderline pattern" to present its characteristics.
The approach to assign importance to the personality function and shed light on pathological conditions, such as depressive disorders and anxiety disorders, is clinically useful and worth appraisal. On the other hand, overdiagnosis remains of concern considering the seemingly lower diagnostic threshold for Personality Disorder.
