This study examined the elderly state of mind focused on the aging process.
Three cases were analyzed; the author who is their early 70 s, a novel female character written by Chisako Wakatake, and a novel character written by Yoshikiti Furui. The first two cases were analyzed from the perspective of elderly women. The third case was analyzed focused on the elderly state of mind. Lastly, the elderly state of mind was discussed from the perspectives of self-other boundaries and the primitive body.
The elderly state of mind is always on the side of life until death and acts as an anchor in life. The elderly state of mind is not linear towards the end and is always going back and forth.
