Unification of subconscious personalities by tapping therapy (USPT) is a parts therapy for dissociation developed by Oguri et al. USPT has a simple procedure for integrating the parts of one's personality. Thus, this treatment may give patients a consistent sense of stability and an active sense of participation. "Clients are fixated on past survival defense mechanisms, which causes their current disorder. In this report, we present this dissociation model and explain the four-phase procedure of USPT. Structural dissociation is a deficiency in the cohesiveness and flexibility of the personality structure. This dissociation involves the coexistence of and alternation between apparently normal parts of the personality (ANP) and emotional parts of the personality (EP). Structural dissociation can range from primary dissociation to tertiary dissociation by varying degrees of emancipation and elaboration. Van der Hart et al. proposed that complex PTSD involves secondary structural dissociation. The World Health Organization (WHO) included complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD) in the ICD-11. The diagnosis of C-PTSD is considered to become increasingly important.
