Psychologists have participated in team medicine in psychiatric care with psychiatrists and nurses for many years, and have performed psychological assessment and psychotherapy. Psychologists play a wide range of roles within the framework of psychotherapy. They sometimes meet with family members or pertinent individuals, in addition to the patients themselves. Group psychotherapy is also included. In many cases, in order to flexibly and individually tailor support for patients or to adjust the support depending on the condition, level of pathology, and the course of treatment, multiple approaches are used in combination. The current task is to provide outreach-style support and to join the local support network in order to identify what support is most needed, and to collaborate with professionals from other organizations outside our own facility, thereby supporting those who live locally. Upon the full launch of the nationally licensed system of "Certified Public Psychologists", the system is expected to have been improved such that those who wish to receive support from psychologists will be able to do so in a timely manner.
