I reported three fundamental viewpoints about the cooperation between certified public psychologists and medical institutions at schools: 1) the current status of the school counselor project in Japan and Aichi prefecture; 2) differences between school and psychology cultures; and 3) several complicated tasks performed by school counselors. Based on this background, I also discussed several unresolved issues for harmonious cooperation: 1) the cooperative roles of certified public psychologists; 2) issues with doctor's instructions; 3) the importance of psychiatric knowledge; and 4) understanding school organization. I emphasized the importance of training for detailed observation and assessment, as well as of introspection through supervision and case studies even after laws for certified public psychologists are enforced. Certified public psychologists who work at schools are required to: 1) teach psychological assessment and planning; 2) respect the school culture and work behind the scenes like "Kuroko"; and 3) hold different values from teachers even after adapting to the school environment. Certified public psychologists are expected to have a wide range of abilities and knowledge in both the medical and educational fields. Therefore, they are expected to play a pivotal role in improving the relationships among people from different fields who have different goals and directions.
