Child abuse is increasing year by year. Victims of child abuse experience serious psychological damage and often require psychiatric care because of maladjustment to their family or school. They may continuously show symptoms associated with psychiatric problems, and some of these symptoms persist until they become adults. Most adults who were abused in their childhood can look back on their abused pasts. This results in them facing difficulty in bringing up their children. Meanwhile, parents who have mental illness may also face have difficulty in treating children harmoniously. Hence, there are needs for psychiatric treatment of the victims of child abuse and support programs for parents with mental illness.
