Prevention of suicide reattempts is a pillar of suicide countermeasures. Shiga Prefectural Mental Health Center launched "Konan Inochi support consultation enterprise" in August of the fiscal year Heisei 26. Staff of allied emergency hospitals in a prefecture introduce the enterprise to a suicide attempter and his/her family when brought by ambulance to the hospital. If he/she agrees, hospital staff will send his/her information to the center. Staff of the center start support by contacting the suicide attempter and family. The staff assess his/her situation and how and why the attempted suicide took place, and then the staff continue the support by cooperating with a health center of the prefecture, the division in charge of the municipal office, and other life support bodies. Like Shiga Prefecture Konan region, similar administrative cooperation enterprises have been deployed in other region within this prefecture; the enterprises dealt with over one hundred suicide attempts in the fiscal year Heisei 27. The prefecture held a review meeting for the Shiga Prefecture suicide attempters support system; each prefecture has developed an enterprise that reflect the region's characteristics.
