For patients with advanced cancer and their families, it is a challenge to adapt to their difficult situation. They have the potential power to do so, and medical staff can keep on supporting them to promote the process. Medical staff should not be afraid to relate to patients, and should adopt a flexible approach in parallel with patients' needs.
